Annette Levesque-Nieman,LCSW-C co-founder of Ascendant Counseling Services, brings more than 20 years experience as a Therapist and Social Worker. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, she has clinical experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families regarding issues that impact daily living. She can address clients’ issues from a Christian or secular perspective in relation to the clients’ personal spiritual beliefs. She earned her Masters of Social Work from Catholic University of America and her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
David Nieman, LCPC, co-founder of Ascendant Counseling Services, brings more than 13 years experience as a Counselor and Pastoral Counselor. As a Licensed Clinical Counselor, he has clinical experience with youth, families, couples, and individuals, particularly with substance abuse counseling, and where applicable utilizing the tools of the client’s spirituality. He earned his Masters of Science in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola University and his Bachelors from the University of Maryland.
Susan Harvey, LCPC
Pastoral and Professional Counselor
Susan Harvey brings many years of experience as a licensed Counselor and Pastoral Counselor. She brings over ten years experience as a bereavement seminar facilitator and counselor. She has clinical experience with loss and bereavement, crisis intervention, individuals, couples, families, group and grief counseling. In addition, she has worked with military personnel and couples preparing for marriage. Previously, she worked for several years in the Anne Arundel Public School system working in special education and advocating for those with TBI and developmental and intellectual disabilities. She earned her Masters of Science in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola University and her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Baltimore.
Kyra Crafton brings experience as a Behavioral Support Specialist at the Developmental Disabilities Administration. She has been practicing therapy for two years in various settings with a variety of populations. Ms. Crafton possess two Master's Degrees in Public Health and Social Work. She loves to research the latest trends and interventions for people to have enjoyment and fulfilment in their lives.
Adebusola developed an interest in Counseling due to her experience as a social worker in Nigeria during her national youth service. She helped provide community development to the less privileged and free food supply for orphans and vulnerable children. Due to her passion for helping people, she was trained as a peer recovery specialist at Bowie State University in the United State and became a certified peer recovery specialist.
Adebusola has a passion for Mental Health profession to be of support to individuals who struggle with various addictions and Mental Health challenges. She had experience in recovery treatment from Prince George's Department of Correction, where she did her volunteering job for four months. She conducted an assessment and provided individual and group treatment for clients enrolled in comprehensive corrections recovery and treatment for the inmate services division. She provided one-on-one Counseling to adults with a history of substance abuse disorders and chronic mental illness.
Adebusola had her bachelor's degree in international studies in Nigeria. She received her Master's in Counseling Psychology from Bowie State University. She had one year of experience in Counseling during her internship with Metropolitan Health Behavioral Services.
Kimberley Bourn, LCSW-C
Kim Parks-Bourn, LCSW-C, has over 30 years of experience as a frontline social worker, clinician, trainer,
clinical supervisor as well as an administrator in the child welfare and mental health systems throughout
the State of Maryland. Kim has served numerous children, adolescents, couples, adults and families
throughout her career ranging in these capacities. She specializes in short-term problem-solving models
of treatment with expertise in depression, anxiety and acute trauma symptoms. She has also worked
extensively with survivors of sexual abuse and domestic violence, run psycho-educational groups for
women experiencing depression, and counseled couples exclusively and supplementally to individual
treatment as well.
Client Services Manager
Kelly brings to our practice over thirty years of experience as a Human Services Professional. Kelly guides our new clients through the intake process; facilitates communications between clients and clinicians; and assists our active clients with resources and information that they need that falls outside the parameters of traditional counseling services.
Billing Services Manager
Jennifer brings to our practice over ten years of experience providing insurance and client billing services for our clients. This enables our clients to focus on their counseling and not have to worry about submitting insurance claims themselves for reimbursement.
